Canvas Panel Sets

Canvas panel sets is the process of taking a photograph or artwork and dividing it up into three or more prints that are stretched and mounted then hung on a wall, evenly spaced apart. The process is very popular with digital artists as well as landscape photographers looking to provide a unique design for their clients in a contemporary panoramic style.

Panels can be ordered online as individual prints or may need to be custom ordered if a gallery wrap method (image wraps around the sides) is required.

For the bet presentation, since these are usually hung unframed, we recommend the gloss canvas protected with a finish then gallery wrapped over a 1.5 inch deep mounting frame. A matte canvas can be used however we do not recommend the gallery wrapped method on matte canvas since flaking and ink peeling can occur when you wrap the image all the way around the sides.

Calculating Price

Mounting Cost – Per Panel

The cost of mounting on a standard ¾ inch deep frame can be calculated on our pricing page however we recommend that you also have the staples hidden in the back if you are hanging it unframed.

If you want the image gallery wrapped, the mounting frame the mounting price is based upon the total length of all four sides then multiplied by $0.55. For instance, if you have a panel that is 16 x 24 inches then you would add the length of each side (16 + 16 + 24 + 24 = 80) then you would multiply the sum by the above per inch cost (80 x $0.55 = $44). This would give you the mounting cost for that single panel.

Printing Cost – Per Panel

The cost of the print would be based upon our standard square inch price for the particular canvas. As of December 2004, the cost per square inch for the gloss canvas with a protective finish is $0.12 per square inch. As an example to calculate the cost of a 16 x 24 panel you would multiply 16 x 24 x $0.12 = $46.08.

For gallery wrapped panels, where the image to wrap around the sides, then you would need to add 3 extra inches to the width and height of the print to account for the amount of print that wraps around the sides. For instance, if the canvas is to mount over a 16 x 24 inch frame then you would need to price the printing of that panel based upon an image that is 19 x 27 inches. You would then multiply as follows: 19 x 27 x $0.12 = $61.56.
